From Teacher to Reading Intervention Coach

Meet Shannon, certified reading specialist.

In 2001, I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Resource Management. After some time, I realized this was not the right path for me and decided to go back to school. I received a master's degree in teaching and a Reading Specialist Certification.

I have held many roles as an educator, including classroom teacher, MTSS coordinator, instructional coach, consultant, reading specialist, private tutor and author. If I am not wearing one of my many educational hats, you can find me reading a good book, cooking healthy meals or exercising.

As a K-5 Reading Intervention Coach, I will give you proven methods to help set up your classroom for intervention success.

During my teaching career, I started as an elementary classroom teacher (2nd & 3rd grade) then I moved on to other educational roles: reading specialist, Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) coordinator, instructional coach, literacy tutor, author of "Science of Reading vs Whole Language War Rages On; Students Lose," and most recently reading intervention coach.
